The path to getting your driver’s license is an exciting journey. At Driving School Caland in Amsterdam, we are dedicated to guiding you through every step of this process. A crucial stage in this journey is, of course, the car driving test. Here’s what to expect:

Introduction and Preparation

Your day begins at the exam center where you will be introduced to the examiner who will supervise you. Prior to the exam, there will be an introduction on how the exam will proceed and what is expected of you. Then you will go to the lesson car for the eye test and perform some preparation and checking actions to make sure everything is in order before the ride begins.

Your Driving Test: The Ride

The core of the driving test is the drive. This is your chance to show what you have learned.

Assessment of Driving Ability

During the drive, the examiner assesses you in various areas such as vehicle control, viewing behavior, yielding the right of way and interacting with other road users. You will also perform various commands such as reversing, stopping, parking and navigating to a specific house number.

Situation Survey

There will be situational questioning about, say, an intersection to test your hazard recognition. This helps the examiner get a good understanding of your awareness and understanding of traffic rules.

After the Exam: Reflection and Results

The completion of your exam is a time of reflection and understanding of your accomplishments.

Reflection and Feedback

After returning to the exam center, you will review the self-reflection form with the examiner, and you will be given the results of your exam immediately.

What if you passed or failed?

Passed? Congratulations! You can apply for your driver’s license at the municipal office. Failed? No worries, your examiner will provide feedback on what areas need improvement, and you can discuss this with your driving instructor for your next steps.
