    Training & examination for vehicle control

    AVB Amsterdam

    In preparation for your AVB (vehicle control) exam, you will learn 12 motorcycle exercises during your motorcycle driving lessons. You can see these motor exercises below. The first lessons are almost always conducted in a closed area. You then learn to control the vehicle. This includes the “special operations” of the motorcycle such as slalom, an eight-way turn, etc. On your AVB exam, 7 of these 12 motorcycle exercises will be tested.

    Review

    The motorcycle exercises that are tested in any case during the AVB exam are:

    • Running backwards
    • Walking reverse parking
    • Slow slalom
    • Fallback exercise
    • Emergency Stop

    Of the remaining motorcycle exercises, the CBR examiner chooses 3 during the AVB exam. You may retake any exercise you do not perform well 1 time.

    Clothing Requirements

    During your AVB exam, an approved motorcycle helmet, motorcycle gloves and sturdy shoes that cover your ankle are required. So if you come to the AVB exam in sneakers, your AVB exam will not pass! You will lose the cost of the AVB exam.

    We provide a good motorcycle jacket and motorcycle pants in addition to the mandatory motorcycle helmet and gloves. This will obviously make a much better impression with the examiner than if you show up for the AVB exam in your jeans. Of course, you may also provide your own motorcycle clothing.

    The AVB exam

    You will take the AVB exam at one of the motorcycle practice sites selected by the CBR. Not every exam site has such a motorcycle practice area available, so you may have to drive quite a bit to the location where your AVB exam will be taken. Arriving at the CBR motorcycle practice grounds, you can usually practice for a while before you have to take your own AVB exam.

    You have passed the AVB exam if you complete 5 exercises out of 7 motorcycle exercises satisfactorily. 2 exercises may be insufficient.
